HIM Love Metal (Jimmy Franks Recording Company / Universal Records)

This is where the HIM fascination takes a turn into some interesting territory. When picking up a copy of the import version of Love Metal], I cannot help but notice that the cover has a simple black background, with a gold foil heartagram pendant. I thought that alone was cool. However, when you put the cover up to light, there is all kinds of designs done with a black kind of ink that add’s a whole new layer to the artwork. Looking over the packaging, the same black in affect is used on the back of the CD… and the track listing is broken up on A and B sides, like the way vinyl records are done. The artwork alone makes the me feel like the money was well spent. Totally sweet icing on the cake!

Now let’s talk cake, or shall we say, let’s talk about the music that makes this album so absolutely magnificent! Buried Alive By Love is an extremely strong opening track, and sets the pace for this flawless piece of music, while The Funeral Of Hearts[offers a fun sing along song. ]Beyond Redemption and Soul On Fire are the most melodically heavy tracks on the album. These two songs really showcase the bands immense musical talent, with nice layers of keyboards, going over their driving guitar sound. Best song on the album is definitely Fortress Of Tears, with Vocalist Ville Valo delivering so much emotion, that you feel like you are being pulled into another dimension of consciousness. The Path gives the album a sweetly somber closing and is something you do not want to listen to alone and / or if you are depressed. Emotionally heavy stuff! If you don’t own this album or plan on owning this album… and I am not trying to talk down to the reader when I say this… but something is wrong with you, plain and simple!

Price Ranges: Don’t know yet. I am willing to bet it will be on sale for about 10-13 US Dollars first week. GET IT!!!!! I bought my copy on import at Hot Topic… had to cough up 30 US dollars, and I still felt like I got my money’s worth… .but it’s better to wait until the domestic version to comes out, so you can save yourself some money!
