SXSW Stateside Hype

With so much international talent swarming around #SXSW, we sometimes forget the amazing artists in our own backyard. We’re proud to feature some incredible bands from every corner of the good ol US of A at this year’s JUMPSTART 10 party.

Strange Ranger (@strange_rangerr)

Strange Ranger

Strange Ranger, formerly known as Sioux Falls, is an indie punk duo hailing from Montana. Their post-modern punky vibe is on the more relaxed side of most bands. They replaced their high-energy rock vibe with a smoother, more poetic punk sound when they changed their name. They released their first rebranded full-length album, Nobody Knows If, in late February. You can catch them rocking our outside stage at 1:20 PM.

Never Young (@neveryoung1mil)

Never Young

When you’re feeling 90s punk-pop through a Northern California lens, Never Young is the band for you. This Bay Areaband mashes almost-confusing classic punk with catchy, hook-filled pop. The resulting wall of thumping noise is melodic and unique. Their latest EP, Singles Tape II: SoftBank, is a crazy mix of energetic structures and clever melodies, and we’re excited to hear them recreate it in their signature strange way on our inside stage at 2:30 PM.

Meat Wave (@meatwaveband)

Meat Wave

For a punk band, Meat Wave isn’t that weird of a name. Its meaning is varied, versatile, and open-ended, which describes the band pretty well. This Chicago-based trio bases their sound in acerbic post punk, but the elements of identity, insanity, and biting social criticism add a venomous layer to their music. Their latest project, The Incessant, came out a month ago, to great reviews. They’ll be taking our outside stage at 3:00 PM.

Baked (@bakedtweeets)

Baked

Closing out our outside stage at 5:30 PM is Brooklyn-based band, Baked. They name their influences as ‘pizza, ice cream, and grass’, so their name makes sense. They’re the perfect closers, because their music ranges from fiery, upbeat headbangers to calmingly somber tunes. Released late last month, Farnham will take you up, bring you down, and leave you feeling indescribable.

Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us!
