The holidays just got a little ‘Bad To The Bone’! Legendary rockers George Thorogood & The Destroyers are back for the 10th year running with their awesome “Who Do You Love?” holiday campaign, running from November 18th to December 30th.
Forget the jingle bells; these guys are ringing in the season by raising awareness and serious support for 11 vital non-profits close to the band’s heart.
Why Not? That’s the Thorogood Vibe
For George Thorogood, it all comes down to a classic, rebellious spirit. “When I was a kid, my hero was Bobby Kennedy,” George shares. “He said ‘Some men see things as they are and ask why? I dream things that never were and ask, why not?’ It was a message that spoke directly to my generation, and one that I’ll always carry with me.”
Kicking Off with a Cause Close to Home
The campaign hits the ground running with a deeply personal cause: The Marla Thorogood Memorial Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research. This fund was established in memory of George’s wife, Marla, who passed away in 2019.
Here’s how they’re rocking the donations:
- $1 from every ticket sold at participating venues goes directly to the fund.
- 100% of net proceeds from a limited-edition commemorative t-shirt are donated.
All those funds power research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which is doing crucial work studying gene mutations that can help identify women at risk for ovarian and breast cancer.
A Rock-Solid Lineup of Charities
Over the next six weeks, Team Thorogood is spotlighting an incredible roster of organizations, including:
- Musically Fed
- Convoy Of Hope
- Gibson Gives
- Music Health Alliance
- The Blues Foundation’s HART Fund
- The GRAMMY Museum
- Sweet Relief Musicians Fund
- Chic Awearness
- Firefighter Cancer Support Network
- The Guitar Center Music Foundation
Keep an eye on their Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X channels! The band is dropping a series of short videos that will highlight the awesome work each of these charities does.
