According to Officialpantera.com, Rhino Records will be releasing The Best Of Pantera: Far Beyond The Great Southern Cowboys Vulgar Hits on Sept. 23, 2003. As a bonus, the package includes a DVD containing all Pantera music videos and live footage from Moscow.
Totaling almost 80 minutes, this single-disc metalfest packs 16 signature tracks, including “Walk,” “This Love,” and a live version of “Where You Come From.”
Dallas-based Pantera unleashed a scorched-earth roar with their monster 1990 major-label debut, Cowboys From Hell. Its follow-up, 1992’s pulverizing Vulgar Display Of Power, is an all-time metal masterpiece, and 1994’s Far Beyond Driven is widely considered the heaviest album ever to enter the Billboard Top 200 at #1. In a genre often steered by trends, the unassailable Pantera are revered for their uncompromising allegiance to the “power groove,” as they call it. They paved the way, but are others brave enough to follow?

Pantera's "The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits!" (Elektra/Rhino), has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of more than 500,000 copies in the U.S.
The 16-song "Vulgar Hits!" CD, released in September 2003, was packaged with a bonus DVD boasting 12 videos, including two live performances. The bulk of the material was culled from the band's six major-label releases, but also included were non-album cuts "Cat Scratch Fever" (a cover of the Ted Nugent song that originally appeared on the Polygram soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City") and the Black Sabbath cover "Hole in the Sky", previously available only on import.
Pantera's "Vulgar Display of Power" (Elektra) was recently certified double-platinum by the RIAA, signifying shipments of more than 2,000,000 units in the U.S. since its February 25, 1992 release.
