Remember the Z rock Metal Militia dog tags ?
Any one interested in apiece of nastalgia from
the only true Z Rock, contact me. |
I have 2 sets of them. The first set I got when they were on the am dial, the second set I got when they switched to the fm dial. I even still have a bumper sticker. I sure do miss being able to hear the hard and heavy stuff on the radio. My personal requests would have to be Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath. Is there a corporate entity backing this or is this the people trying to bring it back? |

Howdy Folks..
I am a DJ at 94.5 Z-Rock in Charleston, WV.. Although it is in no way related to the Z-Rock from Texas back in the day, I do have many fond memories of Crankin Craig, Mad Maxx and the other jocks from Z Rock -Texas, when it was running on the AM here in Charleston and when I visited my brother in Detroit back in the day..
I would love to be able to get my hands on some old Z Rock airchecks, so I could get an idea of how to be a great jock like those guys were...
So, if anyone has any Z Rock airchecks from Texas, be sure to drop me a line at: llshockley@yahoo.com

Hey head bangers!!! I too live in Dallas texas and am starving for good ol head banging music on 24/7. We have a pop metal station the edge that plays main stream metal and an occasional soft Metallica song every once in a while. There is a pretty cool show on 93.3 the bone that plays heavy metal at night during certain hours, but thats it!!! Please, Please, Please come back to Dallas and give us starving metal maniacs some release from this dull pop rock that these stations call metal. I need my METALLICA, Megadeth, Pantera, Prong, and the awesome new stuff like Disturbed, Korn, Zombie, and Godsmack. The only way I can here new music is on my Yahoo radio I have at work through my im, AHHHHHH. Or search the net for new metal. I know the baptist people kicked yall out twice, 94.5 and 99.1. But I think they have more to worry about now than to worry about what music is playing, such as kids having access to free internet porn and so forth. I'll never forget the last song that was played on 99.1, FADE TO BLACK by METALLICA. Man i miss yall.... |

I had a piece of an old Z-Rock aircheck from about 1993. I have recently lost it. On it there was a song Crankin Craig played that he described as "the greatest chucka chucka song," but he didn't name the song or the band. I'm desperate to have someone identify it. I recreated the bass line and vocals (what I remember of them) in an mp3. Does anyone know how I can get it to him to see if he can tell me anything about it? |

I've got a cassette tape somewhere of about an hour of Z-rock from Dallas
in 1988. I'll see if I can track it down. I'll never forget the first song I heard on Z-Rock the first time I tuned in - "Braindead" by Exodus. Talk about a good chugga-chugga song. Saw Anthrax and Exodus that same year at the Bronco Bowl. Woo hoo! |

hello there...i'm new here...my last concert attended were (believe it or not) Pearl Jam in 1995 and Bush in 1997, though the ferocity for rock never blinked. Is it okay here in this site to be a grungester? I noticed most of you guys here are metalheads. I like Prong btw, got there record "snap your fingers, snap your neck". Kinda old school here. thanks guys! |
